4:00 PM | Hotel Pickup
Your evening begins with a pickup from your accommodation. The late afternoon is the perfect time to explore as the temperature cools and the city’s golden monuments begin to glow in the late sun.
4:15 PM | That Luang Stupa (The Great Stupa)
Your first stop is the most important national monument in Laos. This gold-covered stupa is a symbol of both the Buddhist religion and Lao sovereignty. In the late afternoon, the golden exterior catches the light beautifully, making it an ideal time for photography.
5:15 PM | Patuxay (Victory Gate) & Local Refreshment
Next, head to the iconic Patuxay monument. Inspired by the Arc de Triomphe but designed with traditional Lao motifs, it sits at the end of the city's grandest boulevard.
Local Drink: Take a moment to relax nearby and enjoy a local drink—such as a fresh fruit shake, Lao iced coffee, or a cold beverage—as you watch the city transition from day to evening.
6:15 PM | Vientiane Street Food Exploration
Continue to one of Vientiane’s bustling street food hubs (such as the vibrant areas near the night market or the Khua Din stalls). Your guide will lead you through the rows of aromatic stalls where you can see locals preparing fresh delicacies.
7:00 PM | Local Dinner
Settle in for an authentic local dinner amidst the lively atmosphere. You’ll have the chance to sample traditional dishes which may include:
Grilled Meats (Ping Gai/Ping Pa): Succulent grilled chicken or river fish.
Lao Starters: Such as Sai Oua (herbed Lao sausage).
Sticky Rice: The essential accompaniment to every Lao meal.
Fresh Salads: Like Tam Muk Hoong (spicy papaya salad).
8:00 PM | Return Transfer
After your meal, you will be transferred back to your hotel, or you may choose to be dropped off at the Mekong Riverside Night Market to explore the stalls further on your own.
